FORTIS Takes Ground Autonomy from Demonstration to Deployment

Dubotech has deployed FORTIS on an unmanned ground vehicle following a successful demonstration with defense operators. The integration advances the platform from conventional remote operation toward autonomous mission execution.

The vehicle was developed for explosive ordnance disposal, standoff inspection and operations where sending personnel could create unnecessary risk. Its cameras, sensors and remote control functions allow operators to investigate potentially hazardous objects from a safer position.

FORTIS adds the autonomy layer.

Through a unified mission-control interface, operators can plan missions, assign objectives and supervise the vehicle as it performs its tasks. The onboard system can process sensor information, navigate through the operating area and execute assigned actions with less dependence on continuous manual control.

The same software also powers Dubotech’s own UGV, enabling it to perform autonomous navigation and mission tasks while remaining connected to the wider command environment. Together, these deployments demonstrate how FORTIS can operate on systems developed by Dubotech as well as compatible platforms already in service.

For Bangladesh’s defense sector, this represents an important shift. Military organizations have traditionally acquired vehicles and equipment as separate systems, often with limited ability to modify their software or connect them through a common operational network. FORTIS provides a locally developed pathway for transforming those individual assets into connected autonomous systems.

This means existing defense equipment can gain new capabilities without requiring complete replacement. A platform that once depended entirely on manual control can be upgraded with autonomous navigation, onboard sensor processing, mission planning and centralized supervision.

The deployment reflects Dubotech’s broader direction: every system it builds should be capable of becoming autonomous and connecting to the same operational network.

Defense organizations operate many ground systems built for different missions, including reconnaissance, surveillance, logistics, patrol, route clearance and hazardous area inspection. FORTIS integrates with each vehicle’s mobility, sensors and mission payloads, providing the autonomy required to plan, execute and supervise these missions through one command environment. 

This approach can help Bangladesh build greater control over its defense technology. Autonomy can be developed locally, adapted to national requirements and improved through direct feedback from the personnel operating the systems.

This demonstration enabled defense operators to evaluate FORTIS-enabled ground autonomy in a mission-relevant environment, including vehicle control, sensor integration and supervised mission execution. It marks a practical step toward equipping Bangladesh’s defense forces with sovereign, operationally adaptable autonomous capabilities aligned with global defense technology standards. 

The result is more than an unmanned vehicle. It is part of a wider move toward a connected, autonomous and locally controlled defense capability, designed to reduce operator workload, improve mission coordination and keep personnel farther from danger.
